The Stratford LPJS is over. The U14 England rankings are updated.

The U13 age group results count towards the U14 England Rankings.

So, without delay, we have updated them for you to enjoy. Thank you to Calum Wilson for sending us through the results so quickly.

Find out who has moved up and who has been caught up and who the new entrants are by going to your U14 page where you will find the link to the U14 rankings.

Don’t forget to check out all the detail and subscribe to the ranking if you wish. Just use the alarm button at the top left corner. We will of course continue to post when we update the rankings but you might like to subscribe anyway.

The Camden LPJS is finished. The U14 rankings are done.

There were U9, U11, U13 and U15 age groups with lots of new competitors at this weekend’s Leon Paul Junior Series event hosted by Camden Fencing Club. There were especially large numbers of new competitors from Whitgift School where the head coach of the school, Ian Williams, is also head coach of Camden.

The U13 age group results count towards the U14 England Rankings.

So, without delay, we have updated them for you to enjoy.

You’ll see that Hui Xin Sezille still tops the rankings for the girls – she was actually on international duty in Godollo, Hungary this weekend at the huge cadet competition, where she came 28th in a huge field of over 200 fencers from 20 different nations. At the same competition, Emily Fereday came 63rd, Maya Sutton 68th and Maryam Wooten 180th. This is one of the toughest U17 competitions, so to be competing at their young age and doing so well is absolutely amazing.

On the boys’ side, the rankings are topped by Henry Learner who was victorious in the Camden LPJS

Don’t forget to check out all the detail and subscribe to the ranking if you wish. Just use the alarm button at the top left corner. We will of course continue to post when we update the rankings but you might like to subscribe anyway.

The next ranking tournaments can be found in the sabre club calendar. So go to the website and subscribe to that so you don’t miss out.

But start at your very own U14 page where you will find the link to the U14 rankings.

Calendar update confusion

Sorry for the confusion and consternation caused by the calendar updates earlier today.

I was going through the calendar and noticed that Reykjavik Satellite was no longer there. No problem. Trashing it leads to a cancellation notice. All good.

Then I noticed that the Leon Paul BRC events were on the first AND second weekends of October. Not sure how that happened. My fault for sure as, if they changed the date I should have just edited the entries.

So I ended up trashing the incorrect ones – on the second weekend of October and caused confusion.

I have also removed one LPJS which I thought was this weekend but seems to have been duplicated. The correct version is still there.

So sorry about all that. If I was good at memes I would put one in with a very confused but apologetic old man with no hair.

Super Sabre September

With August drawing to a close it seems like a good time to look at what is happening in September – the traditional start to the fencing season.

One look at the sabre club calendar tells us there is loads (technical term) going on.

The first senior Satellite will take place in Iran

There is a Cadet and Junior A BRC in Nottingham

Welsh fencing hold their closed veterans championships

The Cadet and Junior National Championships take place in Nottingham.

WARNING if you want to represent GB this season at Cadet and Junior you MUST do the Nationals unless you have an exemption.

At senior level you also have the Shropshire Open and the Hampshire Open and the Highland Open

Pisa holds the next IWAS World Cup event and Sofia holds a senior Satellite while many veterans will be enjoying themselves in their biggest event, The Veterans Winton Cup at the same time as the youngsters battle in out at the LPJS in Hertfordshire.

Good luck to everyone. Get those entries in if you haven’t already and don’t forget to send us photos on FB or Messenger or reference us on Insta.

U23 comps added to the calendar

As you will all be busy trying to plan your competition season, you will be very pleased to hear that another part of the competition jigsaw puzzle is now in place.

The EFC (European Fencing Confederation) has added the planned sabre U23 events to their calendar and we have added them to yours.

U23? What do I care!?

Well U23 EFC events are actually OPENS and provide fantastic development opportunities as well as fairly decent ranking points (ranking scheme soon to be published we were told earlier today)

So if you filter the calendar for senior, U23 or Junior you will still see these competitions as we consider them potentially relevant to you.

There are some clashes with Satellites and other comps – see the calendar

So you’ll have to plan carefully.

The calendar entries contain the links you need to enter using the BF smartsheet.

Enjoy!

Of course, if you subscribed to the calendar you would get this all comp by comp into your inbox! So let us make your life easier and subscribe to the calendar itself.

U14 England rankings updated for latest LPJS results

All that effort in London has not gone unrewarded. Well done everone. Check out the latest rankings and who got how many points via the sabre club U14 page. We could take you straight there, but then you’d miss out on all the other stuff on the website 🙂

You’ll see the whole list of the competitions that count so far this season. You’ll also see their weightings and can access the points key easily too.

If you click on the link near the bottom left of the rankings page you will see the ranking scheme on the England Fencing website.

There are a few more competitions to go this season – U14s ends in December each year – so don’t miss out.

Subscribe to the calendar and you will get updates to the competitions as they come in so you don’t have to keep searching to see what is new. There is at least one to be added to the calendar and that will be added shortly.

If you do go, quite reasonably, via the England Fencing site, please do be aware that you might see the 2021 rankings first. What you need to do is simply change the season at the top as illustrated in the screenshots.

Calendar update

Hi all you keen sabre fencers. We got distracted and have updated the calendar for you.

Those of you who cleverly subscribed so we do all the trawling for you, will have got the updates straight to your email.

The rest of you will probably wise up sometime as this saves you a load of time and effort. Or at least that is the idea.

Does it cost much? No.

How much? Nothing for you as the sabre club has committed financial backing for the next few years.

Isn’t it using donations to the charity which owns it? No.

So, if you want to save yourselves some time please feel free to subscribe to the sabre club calendar and even to put a link to it on your club website. We won’t mind. In fact we’d be rather pleased.

Where is it? Here

I subscribe to the website and get these posts but don’t get the calendar updates! Why?

Not everyone might want to see the calendar updates so you have to subscribe to that separately using the subscribe button just below the calendar. Or maybe it’s because I haven’t worked out how to do that for you 🙁

Plovdiv satellite is now in Sofia

For anyone thinking of entering the Bulgarian Satellite competition on 24-25 September – It’s actually in Sofia not in Plovdiv as originally posted. The FIE have updated the competition but BF have not yet done so, so please be aware.

We haven’t updated the sabre club calendar yet either 🙂

We’ve been busy

The calendars have been updated with all the events we know about up to the beginning of February 2023 as it stands.

There will definitely be some events coming in which fall in that period but which are not yet published.

As we get more details we will publish them.

The calendars are not perfect but you can subscribe to them so you get the updates and don’t each individually have to go trawling through various sites and calendars to keep up.

If you do subscribe it is easy. Though sometimes annoying if an event is duplicated and then removed as an email is automatically sent out even if we don’t want it to be. So apologies to the subscribers who will have seen a bunch of IWAS country events “Cancelled” as in fact this is because someone (me, Peter Howes – still living so still learning) was stupid enough not to just update the name when the City details were added to the IWAS calendar. For instance Pisa instead of Italy. Sorry about that. The actual events are still there but the calendar is no no longer cluttered with duplicates.

Also a couple of events have changed dates so you need to pay special attention to the third weekend in October.

The RAF Open has been added but we are awaiting information on which event is on which day as this does not currently show up. If you don’t want to have to look out for that and other things, subscribe to the calendar 🙂

N.B. We will never sell your data or anything like that.

Happy fencing everyone!
